Job Description:
POSITION TITLE: Staff AccountantREPORTS TO (TITLE): Senior
Accounting ManagerFunction: Under direct supervision of the
Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in
day-to-day duties of the Finance Department. Duties include but are
not limited to keeping various schedules updated such as grant
revenue, prepaid, depreciation and patient fees, monitoring and
reconciling payroll worksheets, and preparing journal entries. The
Accountant uses Great Plains and acts as support to the Accounts
Payable Clerk, Payroll Specialist, and Finance Manager as
needed.Specific Tasks/Duties Include:Maintains fixed assets
schedules; posts depreciationPrepares and inputs recurring journal
entries at least monthlyCreates and posts adjusting journal
entries, accruals, and cost allocationsMaintains grant management
module; runs monthly grant reportsPrepare monthly grant account
reconciliations to ensure all expenses have been properly
classified to respective grantsPrepare and submit monthly invoices
and/or other funders specific forms for reimbursements with
appropriate supporting documentationTrack deadlines for invoicing,
reporting, and close out of each assigned grant awardReview
expenses to ensure they are allowable in compliance with Uniform
Guidance, federal and state regulations, SRCH policies and
procedureMonitor actual expenditures to budget with periodic
communication to grant managersPrepares and processes monthly grant
claims/invoices and collectionsMonitors grant accounts receivables
and temporary restricted net assetsReviews, codes, posts revenue
and bank EFT transactionsPerforms bank and other account
reconciliations and cash monitoringAnalyzes asset, liability
account balances; prepares adjusting entries as neededSupports the
Controller with the external auditsMaintains and updates contracts
filesMaintains accounting filesCalculates and posts in kind
monthlyTracks and updates PTO Payable, Donated Leave Bank and
Forgivable Loans to providersMaintains state of audit readiness for
billing and expense records; gathers data for financial audits and
other grantor site visitsReporting quarterly FFR reports; OSHPD and
UDS reportingas requestedBack up to Accounts Payable coding; Back
up to Accounts Payable processing; Back up to Payroll
processingParticipates in ongoing SRCH trainings, improvement
trainings, and webinarsOther duties as assigned by supervisor and
CFOMinimum Requirements:Education:BA in Business/Accounting or
equivalent experience and training.Experience:5 years of varied
accounting experience and increasing responsibility, preferably in
a non-profit setKnowledge and Skills:Knowledge of and experience
with nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting methods, and
GAAP.Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication
skills.Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, and
procedure.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and with multi-tab
spreadsheets using complex formulas and functions.Proficiency with
at least one accounting software package, preferably Great
Plains.Proven ability to multi-task under pressure.SRCH is an equal
